How does "Aiyu Lemonade" taste?
"Aiyu Lemonade" is a traditional Taiwanese drink that looks simple and ordinary but tastes great. "Aiyu Lemonade" tastes sour and sweet, and it also has the effect of helping you through the hot summer.
Where is Aiyu(愛玉) from?
Aiyu is a cold dessert which is very common in Taiwan’s night markets, but it seems to be invisible in other countries. This is because the plant needs certain growth conditions to successfully pollinated.
Natural Aiyu jelly is washed from Aiyu seeds. "Aiyu jelly" is often abbreviated to "Aiyu". The process of "washing Aiyu" involves gentle rubbing and washing, just like treating a piece of precious clothing. However, not all "Aiyu jelly" in Taiwan are washed out according to the ancient method of washing because it requires labor and time. Some "Aiyu" are actually just ordinary agar jelly, not real Aiyu.
Although Aiyu can be added to any drink, the most traditional and common way is with lemonade. Therefore, whether the lemon is fresh and whether the sugar water is carefully cooked will affect the deliciousness of this cup of "Aiyu Lemonade".
"Aiyu Lemonade" contains sugar and lemon, so it tastes sweet and sour. Chewing Aiyu jelly is also a very enjoyable thing. In fact, Aiyu jelly does not have much calories if it is not added with lemon and sugar water.
Next time when you come to Taiwan, in addition to the bubble tea with high calories, the delicious but healthy Aiyu Lemonade will be another good choice to drink.
